Macbook Pro 13” pimping plans
Since the new MBPs that have come out aren’t quite what I was expecting (thinner and more powerful) and the Air doesn’t support 2.4ghz and 8gb I’ve decided to do some upgrades to my 2010 13” Macbook Pro.
With 8gb RAM and a 256gb SSD there’s little I can do in terms of performance upgrades however…
…given I use the Superdrive about once a month I’ve decided to replace it with a MCE Optibay caddy, effectively giving me a new 3gb/s SATA connection for a 2.5” hard disk.
This (£75) combined with a new 256gbSSD (around £350) means DUAL SSDs and a total of 512gb of storage.
The kicker is with this setup I can have OSX and Windows 7 as seperate boots but also partition some one drive as swap space for Windows 7 on the other disk.
Rock on.
